South Carolina to follow NCs lead and sanction lacrosse

That's right.

Another state is recognizing our sport.

South Carolina's public high schools will sanction boys and girls lacrosse beginning with the 2009-10 school year.

I'm bringing you this as a follow up to the NC acceptance.

Keep on playing club teams, you'll get that championship.

Holy Tomoato Sauce! Gary Gait Un-Retires!

That's right kids, 41 year old Gary Gait is coming out of retirement to play for Rochester.

I don't know if I'm excited about this because I grew up watching him play for the Orange (I used to have a traditional Sam with Syracuse across the top) or the fact that a 41 year old is still getting paid to play and viewed as "...the key ingredient we need to win this year."

Awesome.

Great to have you back Gary, but you never really left did you?

Warrior denied in Grand Rapids!

Ok, just because I've been flowing this story I'm going to add this little bit...

A judge in Grand Rapids (that's MI boys and girls) denied an immedeate hearing for the case of Warrior/Athletes Connection (NBalance chain) vs the NCCA.

Warriors position is that it needs to block the NCCA rule change by October in order to avoid retooling equipment.

Apparently the judge decided the 6 months it took for Warrior to file the suit didn't make their case seem immedeate...no future court dates have been set.

Warrior goes it alone!

heh...leave it to a Detroit boy.

Ahem, Blase-Blah...we already know the NCCAs rule changes regading heads.
We all know that Warrior filed a $30 mil lawsuit claiming loss due to inventory and product development.

But here's some side drama.
"In an e-mailed statement, Jason Goger, general manager of STX, said his company disagrees with Warrior's charges against the NCAA, noting the NCAA gave equipment manufacturers fair opportunities to comment on the proposed rule change and ample time to make the required adjustments. "
and...
"Harrow Sports, a smaller equipment manufacture, had a more neutral take on the lawsuit. Jeremy Gurley, vice president of operations at Harrow, said he doesn't see the rule change as that big of an issue. Warrior Sports invited Harrow to back them in the lawsuit, but Harrow respectfully declined, Gurley said, adding he expects Warrior extended the offer to other manufacturers. "
even more...
"Shamrock Lacrosse declined comment for this story, while Reebok, Gait by de Beer and Maverik did not return phone calls and e-mails."

Me, personally? I think the pinched heads are crap and the rule should be changed. I play with a stx proton and a warrior diablo.
(please bring the Diablo back Warrior. I just like saying it...Diablo...)

North Carolina to make Lacrosse Offical HS Sport!

well, maybe for the 09-10 season...

It took way too long in my opinion.
With powerhouses NC and Duke 45 min outside of the capital it's a natural.

I'm not going to get into a rant about how other "sports" are adopted readily and Lacrosse gets treated like a step-child, so I'll tell you what this means.

Finally HS mens and womens club teams will be able to participate in a sanctioned Sate Championship.

Why are they jumping on the lax band wagon now?

“We met with the lacrosse folks that know the most about it, and they said it's getting ready to explode,” said North Carolina High School Athletics Association executive director Charlie Adams. Hmmm, money or best interest of the kids? You decide.

On a side note only 18 states recognize Lacrosse as an "official" HS sport.
And an even further aside - Bowling was the fastest growing HS sport.
Get it together people.

So go get your gear at the LaxZone Charlotte and as always for your Lax T-Shirts and Gifts come to YouGotThat.com

Warrior files lawsuit against NCAA

Ok, so the deal is the NCAA changed the head specs causing current heads and those in development to now be illegal.

The rule:
http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=108349&highlight=rule+change+head

Personally, I think this will all go away when the NCAA simply gives in and makes the rule change effective in 2011.

I also think that these pinched heads are BS. I have, on several occasions pin-wheeled some fish only to see the ball not drop out as it spun through the air (uh, hello? gravity?).

Bottom line is, if you have good stick skills, moves and you practice you should be able to play lacrosse with a little wire minnow net. If you can't, well, maybe you should go back to baseball.

John Grant Jr has emergency surgery (08/29/2008)

Pro Lacrosse star John Grant Jr. had emergency surgery Wednesday night in Canada.

He was in Canada for the game 7 playoff game of the Lakers vs Excelsiors in the Major Series Lacrosse league. Grant didn't make the lineup and they lost.

Grant reported soreness in his knee and it was discovered that an infection in his arm had spread.

Get well soon Grant!

I know we're all iron men and don't want to have to sit out ever but tell the trainer when you're hurt - it could be more serious than you think.

A new book about the history of lacrosse! (not written by a stripper)

Tom Vennum, author of (no he has never played) "Little Brother of War" has written a new book exploring more of the history and it's relationship to warrior tribes.

The game is a gift from the great spirt. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Brett Queener - MVP for me

Ok so if Brett Queener wasn't a hero to the kids playing goal before the playoffs he is now.

Check out the between the legs pass at 2:39.

Coaches get ready to see an epidemic of turnovers from normally sound goalies.

The game was a blowout but watching this crazy little dude run around made it enjoyable.

Reminds me of watching Jimmy Dotsikas from Pfeiffer.

Remember kids, it's not only about beating your opponents into submission through violence and grace - it's also about having fun.

And now for our viewing pleasure...

Major League Lacrosse Semi Finals 08/23/08 @ 12

Can't wait; but it was over too soon.

No predictions from me, aside from Spallina cleaning someone out, but nothing more.

Instead of me telling you what I think - why don't you tell me what you think by voting in our poll to the right.

Anyway, I'm just looking forward to seeing some hardcore playing this afteroon.
Maybe I'll see some of my shirts in the stands.

If I do, I'll post them.

Hey - if you have pics of you in the shirts send them in, I may start making a fan page.

Now stop playing on the computer and go get ready for the game.

1st Blog here...

Ok, nothing major - but just to get the ball rolling I stroll on in here to blogspot only to find that my companys name has already been used as a blog name!

Even worse, the PAB doesn't even have anything on it - since March 2006.

Allrighty. Enough of that, while I look for that guy I just wanted to announce that YouGotThat and all its glorious Lacrosse inspired t-shirts will be moving from our current POD (becuase they are greedy a$$hats).

This move will involve a big sale to get people to come out and look around.

So stay tuned...drop dates will follow.
